April 18, 2008 - Wilbraham Chapter of BNI Celebrates 8th Anniversary
On Friday, April 18, 2008, the Wilbraham Chapter of BNI, a networking organization specializing in business referrals among members, celebrated its eighth anniversary with a catered breakfast by Johnsens Catering of Wilbraham. The chapter was chartered on April 14, 2000 and has been generating qualified referrals among members ever since, with over $1 million in revenue generated for its members in 2007. This successful chapter has been the recipient of the BNI Founder’s Award in 2003, 2005 and 2006. This prestigious award is given to chapters who represent the top 10% in the organization in terms of attitude, performance and commitment. They must have a minimum of 20 members, be nominated by the local BNI Executive Director and approved by the Founder.
This chapter’s meetings are held each Friday, 7 – 8:30 AM at The Gardens of Wilbraham, 2301 Boston Road Wilbraham. Area business professionals are invited to attend to learn more about “Word of Mouth Networking” and to meet and network with chapter members.
BNI was founded in 1985 by Dr. Ivan Misner, and is now the world's largest referral organization with over 100,000 members in 39 countries. With the motto “Givers Gain”, BNI members passed 5.5 million referrals generating $2.2 billion in business in 2007.
A unique aspect of BNI is that only one member of a business category can join a chapter. Once you have become a member, your competition cannot join the same chapter. Those whose businesses are already represented are referred to another chapter or are assisted in forming a new chapter of BNI.
